As the Christian period of Lent begins, we can turn to the mystical wisdom of desert spirituality—rooted in solitude, transformation, and resilience. Is it a coincidence that so many world religions and apocalyptic movements can trace their origins to the desert? Through storytelling and reflection, we explore the desert as both a physical place and a spiritual metaphor, examining how times of alienation and disintegration can lead to deeper meaning and renewal. Drawing from history, theology, and personal experience, we will consider what the desert teaches us about survival, simplicity, and the search for the sacred in barren places.
