Matthew is the Tribal Chairperson of the Barbareno/Ventureno Band of Mission Indians (Chumash).His mission has been to save the official language of his tribe -misqanaqan - a language that has been extremely endangered. In Matthew's words, "I want to see our culture live." He will share thoughts about his tribe, the land and issues involved with Lulapin, the place that is sacred to the Chumash. His words will be particularly fitting as Indigenous People's Day is then recognized on October 13.
