Details

Dear ones,

I want to let you know that I will be traveling to Minneapolis on January 21–23 to join Unitarian Universalist ministers and faith leaders in a public gathering of witness and resistance, in solidarity with immigrant communities.

This UU call we are responding to is from MARCH (Multifaith Antiracism Change and Healing):

"We therefore call on clergy and faith leaders of all faiths, representative of every part of the country, to join us for a day of witness and resistance—a working convening rooted in accountability to impacted communities and designed to build the relationships, skills, and commitments needed for sustained action across the country."

As I go, I want to carry you with me.

One small way I’m planning to do that is by bringing ribbons and attaching them to my stole - each ribbon holding a name, a prayer, or a short message of solidarity. If you would like your name included, or a few words you’d like carried into that public witness, please email me with what you’d like written. It can be as simple as your name, or something brief like: “We stand with you,” “You are not alone,” “Beloved community,” “Courage,” ” “We will not look away.”

I would be honored to bring those messages with me.

Because I will be away, our Taizé meditation service originally scheduled for this Wednesday will be rescheduled to Wednesday, February 25th. I hope you’ll join me then for an evening of candlelight, quiet, and grounding.

Thank you for your prayers, your care, and your ongoing commitment to being a people who show up with love, especially when it matters most.

With gratitude and solidarity,
Carolyn Bjerke, Minister
Unitarian Universalist Church of Santa Paula
