Service: Judaism’s 1800-year-old Earth Day, Our Shared Environmental Responsibility

Day and Time
Sunday Feb 9, 10:30 AM - 11:30 AMDetails
with Thomas Weisbecker and Ruth Ricards
Join us as discuss Tu Bishvat, the Jewish New Year of the Trees, as a call to both environmental responsibility and right relations within our community. While sadly Rabbi Michael Lotker is unable to join us for this service as planned, we honor the Rabbi’s commitment to faith-based environmental advocacy and reflect on how our UU values align with the wisdom of Tu Bishvat. As we deepen our congregation’s commitment to sustainability, we must balance urgent action with compassion, recognizing that some are called to activism while others seek peace and fellowship. Drawing from Jewish, Christian, Taoist, Buddhist, and Hindu traditions, we are reminded that justice work must be both effective and sustainable—for the Earth and for our relationships with one another.
